The Ringer Exodus: Why Are Jason Concepcion, Haley O'Shaughnessy Leaving?
Two prominent sports media personalities revealed that they were leaving The Ringer on Friday. Jason Concepcion and Haley O’Shaughnessy made the surprising announcements on Twitter while offering sparse details regarding the whys and what’s to comes.
Some speculated that the pair’s exit is a byproduct of some staff’s issues with how ownership has handled unionization. In the case of at least Concepcion, that appears unlikely. In his exit message, he very specifically thanks founder Bill Simmons. If there was bad blood, it’s doubtful that would happen.

Moreover, Concepcion also said he planned to finish the two “in progress” works he is currently working on at The Ringer: a ‘Binge Mode’ podcast series focused on Marvel movies and his ‘The Connect’ podcast with Shea Serrano.

I assume this is due to Spotify buying The Ringer for their podcasts?

As far as what led up to this sudden exodus of beloved ‘Ringer’ personalities – that is a question that remains unanswered. Presumably in the coming days and weeks Concepcion and O’Shaughnessy will reveal their next moves. At that point, perhaps a clearer picture will emerge regarding what prompted their sudden exits.
