Stranded family rescued at Idaho reservoir after boat has mechanical issues
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (CBS2) — A family of four had to be rescued at an eastern Idaho reservoir after being stranded overnight at an Idaho reservoir.
The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called out to Ririe Reservoir for a report of overdue boaters. The caller said they had not heard from the family after they failed to return home from a fishing trip.
There's no cell service in the area.
At about 2 a.m., deputies found the man and his son with their boat along the shoreline between Blacktail and Ririe Dam. The man's wife and daughter were not on the boat and had decided to walk and look for help. Roughly four hours later, search crews found the woman and daughter after hearing screams for help.
They had apparently become disoriented in the dark.
"Aside from being cold and dehydrated, all of the individuals were uninjured and safe after being located," the sheriff's office said.
