Boise's 4th of July parade was packed as hundreds of people came to watch dozens of floats snake through downtown.

Nate Hamilton and his family are new to Boise and said they loved seeing the unity at the parade. Nate said,"We just moved from South Carolina a few months ago and it's our first time, and it's a good reminder of why our country was founded and why we fight for our freedom."

After being asked what his family's favorite part was he said, "I would have to say the firetrucks... and Tow Mater."

Boise Fire and Tow Mater were among the many groups in the parade lineup. The Democratic and Republican parties showed patriotic colors and even a few horses jumped in. Vintage cars and some Star Wars characters caught many people's attention, but they weren't the only reason some people were there.

Juliet Bingham said she was there to watch her sister who is in the color guard. She and her family told CBS2 that this was their first year at the parade, and they're excited to return next year.

Mom, Laura Bingham, said, "It's good for all ages and I think they've been really inclusive with acknowledging everyone that is watching."

Juliet said she thinks the 4th of July is so special because it unifies all of us. She said, "Everyone has something in common when it comes to the fourth of July, since there's so much diversity, there's so much fighting all of the time today is just one of those days where we can all come together and celebrate the same thing."
