Ada County will have Ribbon Cutting for Greenbelt

Publish date: 2024-07-28

Ada County officials are unveiling a 1.64-mile section of the Greenbelt pathway that is now wider, safer, and smoother. The project, which started in December 2023, was completed earlier this summer, and opened for use in mid-July. The official ribbon-cutting ceremony will start Monday, August 5, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Improvements include converting a damaged, bumpy, narrow asphalt surface to concrete with centerline striping; replacing a shorter, narrow bridge with a wider, longer bridge and realigning several blind corners; replacing and repairing existing fencing to prevent trespass into adjacent privately owned properties; and repairing and stabilizing a section of Boise River streambank to reduce erosion and enhance water quality.

The Boise River Greenbelt extends roughly 28 miles from Lucky Peak to Garden City and points beyond. The Greenbelt is a popular multi-use walking and biking area, with many of our friends and neighbors using the path as part of their daily bike commute to work. Ada County maintains and manages more than eleven miles of the Greenbelt. You can learn more on the Ada County Parks & Waterways website.
